Short answer: they are three completely different formulas. FocusWell is a single ingredient — 1,000 mg of organic Lion's Mane. FocusRoot is ginseng and ginkgo, with no mushroom at all. MycoMind is ten mushrooms including Lion's Mane, but at roughly a quarter of FocusWell's Lion's Mane dose. If you buy two of them expecting variety, you may be buying one ingredient twice.
The three labels, side by side
| FocusWell | FocusRoot | MycoMind | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Price | $33.90 | $29.90 | $35.90 |
| What is in it | Organic Lion's Mane only | Red Asian ginseng + ginkgo | Ten mushroom species |
| Lion's Mane per serving | 1,000 mg | None | 266 mg |
| Serving | 2 capsules daily | 2 capsules twice daily | 2 capsules daily |
| Servings per bottle | 30 | 30 | 30 |
| Label claim | Memory, focus, brain health* | Normal focus and mental clarity* | Wellness, vitality, mental clarity, normal immune function* |
The thing worth noticing about the serving sizes
FocusRoot's Supplement Facts panel lists 30 servings, and its directions say to take two capsules twice daily. At that rate a 60-capsule bottle is a 15-day supply, not 30 days. FocusWell and MycoMind are both once daily, so their bottles do last a month.
That matters for cost. Taken exactly as directed, FocusRoot is the cheapest bottle on the shelf and the most expensive of the three per month.
If you want Lion's Mane specifically
FocusWell is the one. It contains 1,000 mg of organic Lion's Mane fruiting body and mycelium powder, standardized to 40% polysaccharides, which the label states as 400 mg. Nothing else is in the capsule besides pullulan and organic pea starch.
MycoMind also contains Lion's Mane, but at 266 mg — about a quarter of FocusWell's amount. If Lion's Mane is the reason you are buying, MycoMind is not a substitute for FocusWell.
If you want mushroom variety
MycoMind is the one. Four species are listed individually at 266 mg each: Cordyceps, Reishi, Shiitake and Lion's Mane. The remaining six — Maitake, Turkey Tail, Chaga, Royal Sun Agaricus, White Button and Black Fungus — share a single 266 mg proprietary blend.
What "proprietary blend" means here, plainly: the label does not disclose how much of each of those six is present. 266 mg split six ways is a small amount per species, and it could be split unevenly. We say that because it is what the label says, not because it is a problem — it is simply the limit of what anyone can know from the panel.
If you want no mushroom at all
FocusRoot is the only one of the three with no fungus in it. Per two-capsule serving it contains 700 mg red Asian ginseng extract standardized to 7% ginsenosides, 600 mg ginkgo leaf powder, and 120 mg ginkgo extract standardized to 24% flavones.
Those standardizations are worth understanding. "Standardized to 24% flavones" means the extract is tested and confirmed to a consistent concentration of the measured compound. A plain leaf powder with no standardization carries no such guarantee. FocusRoot includes both forms.
Can you take more than one?
That is a question for your own healthcare professional, and we are not going to answer it for you. What we can tell you is where the overlap is: FocusWell and MycoMind both contain Lion's Mane, so taking both means 1,266 mg of it per day. FocusRoot shares no ingredient with either.
All three labels say the same thing on this point — do not exceed the recommended dose, and consult a physician before use if you are pregnant, nursing, under 18, or have a medical condition.
What none of them do
None of these products treat, cure or prevent anything — not memory loss, not cognitive decline, not any diagnosed condition. The labels support focus and mental clarity as structure/function claims and nothing further, and we are not going to stretch them.
None of them are stimulants either. There is no caffeine in any of the three. If you are after the alert feeling a coffee gives you, none of these is that product.
The honest summary
- One ingredient, highest dose, simplest label: FocusWell, $33.90
- Broadest mushroom coverage: MycoMind, $35.90
- No mushroom, standardized botanicals: FocusRoot, $29.90 — but a 15-day bottle at the labelled dose
Three similar names, three unrelated formulas. The names are the confusing part. The panels are not.
