GlowWell Essentials is a hair, skin and nails formula — $32.90, 60 capsules, 30 two-capsule servings. The front of the bottle is the easy part. This article is about the Supplement Facts panel, because three things in it are worth knowing before you take the first capsule.
1. The biotin number is very large, and that is normal for this category
Two capsules provide 5,000 mcg of biotin — 16,667% of the Daily Value. That is not a misprint, and it is not unique to GlowWell. Almost every hair-skin-nails product on the market uses a biotin dose in this range.
Biotin is water-soluble, which means the body does not store a reserve of it the way it stores vitamins A and D. There is no established upper intake limit for biotin, and no Daily Value ceiling it is measured against in a meaningful way — which is why the percentage looks absurd. The Daily Value is 30 mcg. Hair supplements use 100 to 300 times that.
The part people are not told: high-dose biotin can interfere with certain laboratory blood tests, including some thyroid and cardiac tests. This is a documented interference the FDA has issued a safety communication about. It does not mean the supplement is unsafe. It means tell whoever draws your blood that you take a biotin supplement, so a result does not get misread. That is the entire precaution, and it is easy to follow.
2. It contains iron, and that changes how you store it
Each serving contains 14.5 mg of iron (81% DV). The label carries the mandatory warning that goes with any iron-containing product, and it is there for a real reason:
Accidental overdose of iron-containing products is a leading cause of fatal poisoning in children under 6. Keep this product out of reach of children. In case of accidental overdose, call a doctor or poison-control center immediately.
If there is a small child in the house, this bottle does not belong on a bathroom counter or a nightstand. That is not us being cautious for the sake of it — it is the single most serious line on the label.
Iron also matters if you are already taking a multivitamin or a separate iron supplement, because the amounts add. 81% of the Daily Value from this bottle alone is most of a day's worth.
3. It contains soy
The approved label states plainly that the product contains soy. If you avoid soy for an allergy or any other reason, this is not the product for you, and no amount of reformulating the sentence changes that.

About the 359 mg botanical blend
The blend lists eleven botanicals: PABA, horsetail extract, Fo-Ti, bamboo extract, stinging nettle, Chinese peony, spirulina, saw palmetto, plant sterols, alfalfa and barley grass.
The label does not disclose how much of each one is present — only the 359 mg total. Eleven ingredients inside 359 mg means the average is about 33 mg each, and the real split could be far from even. We are not going to guess at it or imply the amounts are meaningful, because the panel does not say.
If the botanicals are the reason you are buying, this is worth knowing. If the biotin and the vitamins are the reason, the blend is a bonus rather than the point.
Who this is not for
Stated directly, because it is cheaper for everyone than a return:
- Anyone avoiding soy. It contains soy.
- Anyone already taking iron, without checking the combined amount with a healthcare professional first.
- Anyone who wants a single-ingredient biotin supplement. This is a seventeen-ingredient multivitamin that happens to be high in biotin.
- Anyone under 18. The label says adults only.
Honest expectations
Hair grows roughly half an inch a month, and that rate is not something a capsule overrides. Any supplement in this category is a months-long proposition, not a weeks-long one, and the label claims are support claims: promotes hair growth, supports nail strength, supports skin clarity.* It does not treat hair loss, and it is not a treatment for any skin or nail condition.
If your hair or nails are changing in a way that concerns you, that is a conversation with a doctor, not a supplement purchase. Nutrient deficiency is one cause among several, and a blood test answers the question that a bottle cannot.
