NutraFuel BCAA: What Is in It and When to Take It

What BCAAs are

Branched-chain amino acids (leucine, isoleucine and valine) are three of the essential amino acids, which your body gets from food. Protein-rich foods such as meat, eggs, dairy and legumes already contain them.

What the evidence supports, honestly

Some studies suggest BCAAs may modestly reduce post-exercise muscle soreness. If you already eat enough protein through the day, the extra benefit is debated. We would rather you know that before you buy.

What is actually in the container

NutraFuel BCAA (Fruit Punch), per half-scoop (6.5 g) serving, from the approved label:

  • BCAA 2:1:1: 4,000 mg (the label does not break out individual leucine, isoleucine or valine amounts)
  • L-glutamine: 1,000 mg
  • Vitamin B6: 2.5 mg (147% DV)
  • 45 servings per 11 oz (310 g) container

The label says it supports muscle recovery, strength and growth.*

How to take it

Mix half a scoop in 8 to 10 fl oz of a cold drink and give it a few minutes to dissolve. The label suggests taking it before training, after training or between meals. Half a scoop is the serving, not a full one.
